The sermon for this Sunday is about the Lower Columbia Hispanic Council, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Hispanic community of the Lower Columbia River region. Their goals include promoting the health, education, social, and economic advancement of area Latinos.
The director of the Council is Jorge Gutierrez. Jorge was born in Mexico and raised in Southern California. He attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he graduated with a B.A. in Government and Legal Studies and a minor in Spanish. Jorge will provide an update on the Latino community and also discuss the effects of state and federal legislation on Latinos in Clatsop County.
At 10 am, before the service, there will be a discussion in room 109 downstairs. The topic will be “Evolution of emotions: It is possible that states of mind, such as emotions, have been selected by evolution. If so, what are the implications?”
