Rev. Catharine Clarenbach will be our guest UU minister on Feb. 25. She will speak on the topic “Where the River Meets the Sea“. Astoria’s unique viewpoint of the Columbia meeting the ocean is not only environmentally beautiful and important, but spiritually so, as well. Many cultures note the special place of the estuary, the brackish meeting places, and the boundaries of river and sea. Join us to consider these special boundaries, naturally, metaphorically, and mythically.
Rev. Catharine Clarenbach is a UU minister based in Portland, where she created her ministry, The Way of the River. She offers preaching throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as online spiritual accompaniment and coaching, retreats, and classes. Raised Roman Catholic, and having been welcomed into many different religious communities, Rev. Clarenbach is fascinated by myth, liturgical music and ceremony, and the vast differences and surprising similarities among religious people on Earth. You may find more information about her and her ministry at her website, thewayoftheriver.com.
