Bear Witness Build Trust
Rev. CB Beal

We will explore the positive power inherent in being truly present with one another, and how bearing witness is a superpower for healing and developing trust .
CB Beal, M.Div. (they/them/theirs) is a fat, white, queer, non-binary, mostly able-bodied educator, writer, storyteller, and speaker. CB was the 2019 recipient of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Angus H. MacLean Award for Excellence in Religious Education. They make their home in a farmhouse library loft in western Massachusetts and consult with individuals and organizations about increasing consent culture, equity, and justice in the world. You can find them online at justiceandpeaceconsulting.com.

CB Beal is a nationally sought after trainer, writer and story teller. Rev. Denise will be the worship associate for this very special guest. This sermon offers a wonderful Time for All Ages story and special readings by CB Beal. You may recall some of their writing from Medium, UU World and more.

Philosophical Reflections on the Peculiar Idea of Race

Seth Tichenor

Seth Tichenor is a Native Oregonian, former All-American swimmer, and lives in Astoria with his partner Gad.  He’s been a professor of philosophy for 23 years and teaches at Clatsop Community College where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2015.  Many of us have enjoyed his lectures/discussions at Ft. George’s “Ales and Ideas”.  Seth’s passion is the Philosopharian Project, an effort to bring philosophy into the lives of everyday people.

As part of our response to the Black Lives Matter Movement, Seth will address our concept of race.
