New Pagan Group!

Bright Blessings!

Some folks in PUUF have been interested in starting a Pagan group.  There is an offshoot group from the National UUA specifically for pagans called the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPs).  After doing some local informal events that were well attended, and now with some 9+ folks interested, we requested and received approval from the PUUF BoT to create an official chapter of CUUPs.

CUUPs and its chapters work to enrich and strengthen the religious pluralism of Unitarian Universalism; promote the study and practice of contemporary Pagan, Earth-, and nature-centered spirituality; enable networking among pagan-identified Unitarian Universalists; develop educational/liturgical materials on Pagan spirituality for Unitarian Universalist congregations; encourage theological inquiry into the contemporary Pagan resurgence; promote inter-religious dialog; and work for the healing of the Earth.

We aspire to follow and emulate the 8 UU principles, the work of CUUPs, and its vision statement of being dedicated to networking Pagan-identified Unitarian Universalists (UUs), educating people about Paganism, promoting interfaith dialogue, developing Pagan liturgies and theologies, and supporting Pagan-identified UU religious professionals.

We have some paperwork we have to complete and submit for approval to the National CUUPs board in order to create the official chapter, but we hope to have our Pacific CUUPs chapter up and running soon!  In the meantime until we’re fully approved, we can’t use an official CUUPs name, so we’re currently operating as the Pacific UU Pagans.  We hope you’ll join us for our Pagan/Earth Centered gatherings!
