Mental Health information from May 20 service

Email from speaker Pam Green:

I really enjoyed the service and am very glad that I had the opportunity to attend one and to speak to your group about this timely topic.  The websites I mentioned are as follows:

  • The Treatment Advocacy Center

http://www.treatmentadvocacycenter.org/index.php

This is a very good resource that includes links to the program I mentioned “A Bed Instead” as well as information and links to join the cause to end the Medicaid IMD Exclusion.  There is also information on other advocacy points related to mental health issues and several printable sheets on what to do in a crisis – a question that came up.  This can be found under resources for “family and loved ones”.  I attached a copy of the sheets for you.

  • The Mental Health First Aid course I mentioned is available through NAMI, GOBHI and online.  Here are those websites. (GOBHI is the parent company to CBH. They typically will offer the course a couple times per year locally here in Clatsop county).

  • Here is the website for the PBS program I mentioned The New Asylums about the Ohio prison system. It follows several severely mentally ill men through the system and is an excellent representation of the issue.  I highly recommend watching it (can watch online for free)

Hope this is helpful.  Thanks again so much for having me speak. I do appreciate it and it was a pleasure meeting you!

Please feel free to contact me if you need anything and share my information as you see fit.
